A great night was had by all
The annual WFD Dinner was held at the Dartmoor Lodge, Ashburton, on Wednesday 20th October 2021. The guest speaker was Andrew Lane, who brought the evening to light with his wit and knowledge of the agricultural industry. As we celebrated the 70th Year of the Association, a number of articles and pictures were on display around the room for guests to view and enjoy. 
The many cups that had been won throughout the years were presented and results of the Flock Competition were also announced. The results are as follows:
The cup for the Best Ram Hogg at our own Show and Sale was presented to Marguerite Ashman
The cup for the Best Older Ram at our own Show and Sale was presented to Theo Wilding-White
The cup for the Best Coated Ram at our own Show and Sale was presented to Phil Abel
The cup for the Best Pair of Ram Hoggs at our own Show and Sale was presented to Kevin Wreyford
The cup for the Overall Champion Ram at our own Show and Sale was presented to Marguerite Ashman
The cup for the best pen of Shearling ewes at our own Show and Sale was presented to Ruth Endacott
The cup for the best pen of older ewes at our own Show and Sale was presented to Phil Coaker
The cup for the most points won at our own Show and Sale was presented to Phil Abel
The cup for the Best Stock Ram at the Devon County Show was presented to Phil Abel
The cup for the most points accumulated at all the Shows in 2021 was presented to Phil Abel
The Roy Lugger Memorial Cup for the Best Young Handler of the Year was presented to Imogen Abel
 
The three judges, Arthur Wrayford, Grace Baker and Alan Johns, announced the 2021 Flock Competition Results. They are as follows:
Best Flock of over 50 ewes – 1st Matt Cole, 2nd Harry Kerswell, 3rd Murray Garrett
Best Flock of 21 – 50 ewes – 1st Penny Shepherd, 2nd Clive Wilton, 3rd Mike Malseed
Best Flock of under 20 ewes – 1st Roger Hutchings, 2nd Theo Wilding-White, 3rd Ollie Mortimore
Best Ewe Lambs from a flock of over 20 ewes – 1st Murray Garrett, 2nd Matt Cole, 3rd Penny Shepherd
Best Ewe Lambs from a flock under 20 ewes – 1st Ollie Mortimore, 2nd Belinda Owen, 3rd Theo Wilding-White
Best Stock Ram from all flocks – 1st Penny Shepherd, 2nd Roger Hutchings, 3rd Ollie Mortimore

2021 Show and Sale
The Whiteface Dartmoor Sheep Breeders Association 70th Anniversary Show and Sale was held at Exeter Livestock Centre on Friday 27th August 2021.
The results of the Show are as follows (pictures to follow when available):

Class 2 – Best Ram Hogg – 1st M. Ashman, 2nd A&R Wrayford, 3rd PR Coaker

2021 Flock Competition

In early October we will be holding our Flock Competition once again (after cancelling it last year due to the virus). Forms will be sent out with the September Newsletter, and are available here. For those who live more than 35 miles from Widecombe you can enter the flock competition via our photo competition, so do start catching some great photos now in preparation.

 

2021 Annual Dinner

Our Annual Dinner is also returning this year. We will be holding this at the Dartmoor Lodge in Ashburton this year on Wednesday 20th October 2021. The menu and booking form will also be sent out with the September Newsletter (and is available here).
